A Guide for the Fox River in De Pere, Wisconsin
Fox River – De Pere, WI
The March thaw is upon us. And I, Captain Kirk, start to get excited about fishing on open water. My boat longs for the cool waters of some fine rivers in east central Wisconsin.
Which river gets the nod to kick it off? Well it’s the Fox River of course!
Why the Fox River near De Pere? Good question. The WDNR allows us (you and me) to fish the river below the dam at De Pere during the pre spawn, spawn and post spawn to fish protected fish. Many many walleyes make a trip up the river only to get stopped by the dam. You can’t keep them however, you have the chance of catching your biggest walleye ever in this river at this time of the year! Now that’s why!
The truth is, in order to fish the Fox this time of year and to have an open season, you can keep one walleye 28 inches long or longer. It’s trophy time!
Don’t be fooled. It’s still difficult to find and catch a BIG girl. But that’s where I can help. I’ll tip the odds in your favor, and with a little luck you’ll stick a big fat girl 28 inches plus. Ultimately I want you to catch fish and a lot of them. 20 walleyes is not unusual.
Have I ever been skunked? Yes I have. (very rarely) The conditions always dictate how the fishing will be. Sometimes the fish just don’t cooperate. A number of reasons can cause this. If that happens when you’re with me, you won’t have to pay me any more than the $95 retainer. See my guarantee on my website: FishingGuideWisconsin.com
Because the river is such a good opportunity for catching quality fish, it can get crowded. It really is a great opportunity. And often the first place to put a boat in in spring.
Do you have to have a guide? No of course not. Do you have the confidence to do it on your own? It really is all about confidence. And again, that’s where I can help.
I’ve fished the river for many years and I’ll tip the odds in your favor for catching fish.
I take one or two people out at a time. We’ll vertical jig for fish or maybe cast in the shallows. And I’ll supply all the fishing gear and bait.
